Traffic & Conversion

The relationship between traffic building and conversion optimization is similar to filling up empty bottles with water. In order to do so you need a way to deliver water, such as a hose, and a way to get the water from the hose into the bottles, such as a funnel. Imagine the bottles as your goals, and filling them with water is reaching them.

If you were to get a bigger hose or turn the host on full blast (increase traffic) but your funnel is either too small, or leaking (low conversion rate), you won’t reach your goals any faster. Most of the water winds up on the ground around the bottles.

If you were to repair your funnel (increase conversion rate), then you collect more water from your existing water supply instead of letting it fall to the ground. As your funnel gets stronger, you can increase the water flow and reach your goals faster.

Where will the traffic come from?

The following table shows how much it might cost if you had to pay for all the website visitors (traffic) shown to the left.

Cost Per Click Banner Ads *
Rate $ per click $ cpm
Cost $ $
Revenue $ $

* The CTR (Click Through Rate) for Banner Ads is estimated at 0.002%. Your CTR may vary.

If you site is compelling and offers value to your users it should grow organically, assuming you have followed some basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) fundamentals in your sites design.
