Return on Intention

Have you seen the Nintendo Wii commertials?  They are targeting the middle aged man directly and promoting family “play time.”  This console is apperantly different than the Xbox 360 and the PS3, these are more for already established gamers. 

With the proposition that Wii is bringing to the market, family entertainment, they might have a chance to win some market share to its competitors.  For now they are doing Ok in promoting this values, but we got to ask ourselves, are these the kind of people who are gamers? Maybe not, and maybe Wii does not want those hard core gamers who focus on game play, graphics, and intensity of games.  I hope that this strategy is not intended to be a competition for the other consoles because it just seems so different, and lets face it, how many 15-32 year olds want to play a video game of tenis with their parents?

Comic Relief has been going on for 20 years to raise money for a good cause, and this year they are raising money for New Orleans…the hurricane is long gone but there are still over 200,000 houses in need of repair. Well, BarCamp Albuquerque was a hit. The gathering wasn’t huge, but it worked out just fine. Some really good topics were brought up and presented well, and we have it all on tape…well, on hard drive anyway. We are going to publish all the presentations as we find the time to get the files ready, and you will be able to receive them through the ROI Podcast feed.

This might be something you don’t see everyday…but here in New Mexico, its not uncommon. (we are the hot balloon capital if you didn’t know). This was taken outside my front door.

Laptops have become a lot more powerful in the last few years, and some can be used as a desktop replacement (… like a mac book pro …). But there are some things that require much more computing power than the basic laptop can provide. Wouldn’t it be great if you could bring along you home or work computers “environment” in a small portable devise that let you just plug in and use the resources of another computer, say at a friends house or clients office? Well… You can…
